What the %#&$?

I spoke to EA on the phone about the process to have my Battlefront characters progress transferred from the Xbox to the Playstation in anticipation of my PS/4 purchase. They told me it was physically impossible. That my characters progress was stored within Xbox Live on Microsofts servers. So if thats true then how did this app have all my characters progress after logging in with my EA account? I didnt log in to Microsofts servers. EA has all the info on my character needed in order for it to carry over to another console despite what the agent at EA adamantly told me they did not.
